An insurance agency CRM built for trucking, not adapted to it.
Most agency management systems were designed for personal lines and stretched over commercial. RenewRig started from a trucking book — the FMCSA data, the renewal calendar, the loss runs, the clients who answer in Russian — and was built by the agency that runs on it.
Why generic agency CRMs fail a trucking book
A trucking agency does not sell a policy once. It renews the same motor carrier every twelve months, with a new loss run, a changed driver list, a truck sold and a truck bought, and a filing that has to stay active. A CRM designed around leads and closes treats all of that as notes on a contact. The renewal is a date. The loss run is an email you remember to send. The prospect list is something you buy. The client portal is a login the driver never opens.
What an insurance agency CRM for trucking has to do
- Know every motor carrier. The FMCSA registry is public; the CRM should carry it, current, with renewal month and current insurer as filters.
- Start from the renewal date. Work backwards: documents, loss runs, the application, the markets, the quote, the client's answer.
- Request loss runs itself. Authorization, signature, sending, follow-up, filing — without an assistant chasing paper.
- Read documents. A CDL photo is a driver record; a dec page is a prior insurer and a set of limits. The application should fill from them.
- Speak to the client in their language. One link, no login, English first and the client's language beneath.
- Keep books separate. Agents own clients; the agency's data is its own.
RenewRig vs a generic agency management system
| The need | Generic AMS / CRM | RenewRig |
|---|---|---|
| Prospect data | Typed in by hand, or bought as a lead list | Every active US motor carrier from the FMCSA census, refreshed monthly, filterable by renewal month, insurer, fleet size, and state |
| The renewal | A date field and a reminder | A pipeline that works backwards from the date: what must arrive, from whom, by when, chased automatically |
| Loss runs | An email chore outside the system | Letter of authorization, e-signature, insurer directory, sending, 7/14-day follow-ups, and filing under the policy |
| The application | Re-keyed from documents | AI reads photos of CDLs, registrations, dec pages, and loss runs; the application fills itself |
| The client | English email and a login they never use | One link, no login, in English plus Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, or Spanish; SMS with consent on record |
| The team | Everyone sees everything, or nobody sees enough | Agents own clients, assistants work their agent’s book, commissions and referrals tracked |
Is RenewRig an AMS?
It is the working system for a trucking agency: clients, renewals, documents, loss runs, quotes, client communication, and the team. It is not a comparative rater and it is not accounting software. Every feature, as shipped. Loss runs, the workflow agencies ask about first, have their own guide.
Questions agency owners ask
Does RenewRig replace our agency management system?
For the client, renewal, document, and communication side of a trucking book — yes, that is what it is built for. It does not replace a comparative rater or your accounting software. Agencies in early access run RenewRig as the working system and keep accounting where it is.
Does it work for commercial lines other than trucking?
It is built around motor carriers: the FMCSA data, the filings, the loss-run workflow, and the client language all assume a trucking book. A general commercial-lines agency would find the renewal pipeline useful and the carrier database irrelevant.
How do we bring in our existing clients?
Import a spreadsheet of company name, USDOT or MC number, and contact; RenewRig matches each client to its FMCSA record and pulls the public filing history. We help with the import during onboarding.
What does it cost?
Nothing during early access. We are onboarding a small number of trucking agencies at no charge and will publish plans before general availability.
